Biography

Frederick Choi is a partner at Hawkins Parnell who focuses his practice on toxic tort matters. He is a skilled litigator with over 30 years of experience handling all aspects of complex litigation including fact and expert discovery, motions, trials, and appeals. Fred has represented a variety of clients in state and federal court in product liability, toxic tort, catastrophic personal injury, habitability, and employment matters. A sample of his trial results include:

  • Successfully obtained defense-favorable jury verdict for a client in a seven-figure product liability and trade libel claim against multinational diesel engine component manufacturer in a multi-week federal jury trial.
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of a property owner in a catastrophic bodily injury claim by way of a Privette motion.
  • Successfully defended property owner and obtained a favorable resolution in wrongful death/product liability claim involving a boom lift accident occurring at client’s golf course.
  • Obtained a favorable defense resolution of wrongful termination and PAGA claims against employer of interstate truck drivers based on federal wage and hour exemptions.

In his spare time, Fred is an avid golfer and collector of baseball cards. He also enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and their beloved dog Timmy. As a University of Michigan alumni, Fred is sure to be glued to the TV every Saturday morning during football season and basketball season.
