Summary Judgment Secured for Two Electrical Component Manufacturers

August 6, 2019 – Press Release

August 6, 2019 (Atlanta, GA) – Hawkins Parnell & Young won summary judgment in a DeKalb State Court asbestos matter for two electrical component part manufacturers based on Adamson and Blackston for lack of sufficient evidence. Plaintiff alleged her husband was exposed to asbestos from his work as an electrician “over the years.”

Two teams at HPY moved for summary judgment, pointing to the lack of evidence sufficient to show a connection between Plaintiffs' damages and any product Hawkins Parnell’s clients manufactured. The teams collaborated to address numerous evidentiary issues that required additional briefing to the Court, including a motion to strike to preclude the Court from considering improper response material filed by Plaintiff in opposition to the summary judgment motions. After briefing and oral argument, the Honorable Wayne M. Purdom granted summary judgment for Hawkins Parnell's clients.

Partners David Marshall and Bill Wood led the teams that represented HPY’s clients.
