HPY Steps In to Secure Last Minute Stay From Appellate Court
June 21, 2011 (Dallas, TX) – When a Dallas law firm faced an emergency this week, it turned to Hawkins Parnell & Young appellate specialist, Rob Gilbreath, for help. A trial court ordered the firm's client, a large trucking company, to produce a corporate representative to testify about the thousands of injury claims filed against it during the last ten years. The trial court's order came down on Monday, and the representative was required to appear for his deposition on Wednesday. After receiving the call for help late Monday, Gilbreath quickly prepared a petition for writ of mandamus and a motion for emergency stay, filing them in the Fourteenth Court of Appeals Tuesday afternoon. The Court of Appeals granted the emergency stay late Tuesday, to the great relief of the client and the Dallas firm that called on HPY for assistance.
