Georgia Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Arbitration Clause in Legal Malpractice Dispute
September 11, 2020 – Press Release
September 11, 2020 (Atlanta, GA) – Hawkins Parnell & Young brought home a significant win from the Georgia Supreme Court this week. The case was argued via Zoom—one of the first cases the Supreme Court heard virtually.
On September 8, the high court ruled in favor of Hawkins Parnell’s lawyer/law firm client, finding that the arbitration provision in his engagement agreement was enforceable. This was a case of first impression in Georgia and it will have a lasting impact on how attorneys contract with their prospective clients.
The case is Innovative Images, LLC v. Summerville, et al., Supreme Court of Georgia, case no. S19G1026.
