Biography
David Kolmel is a trial lawyer who defends corporations, mid-market companies, and insurers across a range of industries in high-risk premises liability, transportation, and commercial litigation. He also defends attorneys and healthcare professionals against malpractice claims. A former U.S. Army infantryman and paratrooper who served a combat tour with the 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan, Dave brings the discipline, preparation, and composure under pressure that high-stakes defense work demands.
Dave has taken cases through trial and arbitration in high-exposure matters across multiple jurisdictions. He recently secured a jury verdict on behalf of a provider of emergency ambulance services, achieving a fraction of the plaintiff's demand in a four-day admitted liability trial in Fulton County involving a severe accident. The previous year, he secured a jury verdict on behalf of a UM carrier in a rear-end collision trial that left that carrier required to pay nothing.
Dave's approach centers on detailed, aggressive discovery practices that build strong defense narratives early and narrow exposure before trial. Having represented both plaintiffs and defendants in his career across a range of civil disputes, he understands how the other side evaluates and builds a case, and uses that perspective to identify weaknesses in claims and position matters for the most cost-effective outcome. He keeps clients closely informed on exposure, strategy, and budget throughout the life of a matter, and prides himself on working constructively with opposing counsel to move cases efficiently without sacrificing leverage.
