July 18, 2022 – Press Release

July 18, 2022 (Atlanta, GA) – Hawkins Parnell & Young partner Martin Levinson was appointed to the State Bar of Georgia's Formal Advisory Opinion Board by State Bar President Sally Akins. His term goes through 2023.

The purpose of the Formal Advisory Opinion Board is to draft and submit proposed formal advisory opinions to the Supreme Court of Georgia for consideration. Formal advisory opinions are usually requested by a State Bar of Georgia member seeking an interpretation of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct as applied to a particular hypothetical fact situation.

Martin also serves as Vice President of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association (GDLA). Through his work with the GDLA, Martin has shaped Georgia's litigation and appellate landscape. As a former Chair of the Amicus Curiae Committee, he directed GDLA's appellate efforts. Martin authored dozens of GDLA "friend of the court" briefs on issues of significant importance to the Georgia defense bar and businesses. He continues to contribute to the Amicus Curiae Committee as Chair Emeritus. He also serves as one of five members of the GDLA Political Action Committee to promote changes at the legislative level that result in fairness and reasonableness in civil litigation in Georgia.
