Nicole Nystrom defends businesses against high-risk catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation in cases primarily involving product liability, premises liability, and toxic torts, with an emphasis on exposures to asbestos, talcum powder, and various chemicals. She has extensive experience in all stages of litigation, from case inception through discovery, pre-trial, and trial and is well-versed in drafting motions, deposing and defending witnesses, conducting extensive research and assisting in discovery and trial preparation. Nicole currently serves on client teams as national coordinating counsel and local counsel in mass tort and toxic exposure cases. Prior to joining HPY, she worked as an associate attorney defending Fortune 500 companies for another prominent litigation firm in Chicago.
Nicole earned her J.D. from Valparaiso Law School, where she was a member of the Trial Advocacy Team and worked as a law clerk in the juvenile delinquency division and the child protection division of the Cook County State's Attorney's Office; as a law clerk in the felony division of the Lake County Prosecutor's Office in Crown Point, Indiana; and as an intern for the Honorable Judge Kathleen B. Lang in LaPorte County, Indiana.
