Hawkins Parnell Secures Defense Verdict in Georgia Lung Cancer Case

April 17, 2014 (Atlanta, GA) – Hawkins Parnell & Young received a defense verdict for a client that manufactures fluid sealing devices. The plaintiff, a South Carolina resident, alleged that his lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos from Hawkins Parnell’s client’s products onboard the U.S.S. Princeton and at various Georgia Power plants throughout the state. 

The case was tried before the Honorable Kimberly A. Esmond Adams. At closing, Plaintiffs’ counsel sought $6 million in compensatory damages.

The jury returned a defense verdict after six hours of deliberation.
