August 22, 2019 – Press Release

August 22, 2019 (Dallas, TX) – Hawkins Parnell & Young is pleased to announce Laura Kugler has joined the Dallas office. Her arrival brings the firm’s number of Texas-attorneys to 20.

Kugler brings nearly 30 years of experience in products, premises, employment, and professional liability litigation. She manages litigation nationwide for large corporations and helps with governmental relations and advocacy. As a legislative consultant, she was involved in passing tort reform legislation that changed the landscape of Texas from the “lawsuit capital of the world” to one of the most business-friendly environments and robust economies in the U.S.

“Laura is a dynamic lawyer that adds significant depth to our litigation capabilities in Texas and nationwide,” said Troy Helling, partner-in-charge of the Dallas office. “She is also a terrific person. I am delighted to be working with her at the same firm again.”

“Hawkins Parnell & Young has a stellar reputation as trial lawyers and litigators who are known for their abilities in the courtroom and delivering exceptional results for their clients,” Kugler said. “The firm’s national footprint and resources offer tremendous value to my clients, which range from professionals to local businesses and global corporations.”

Prior to joining HPY, Kugler was a founding partner at Bailey, Crowe, Kugler & Arnold, LLP and more recently “of counsel” with Beard Kultgen Brophy Bostwick & Dickson, PLLC. She has been the coordinating counsel for the liaison committee of the Texas asbestos MDL since its inception 15 years ago.

Kugler received her law degree from Tulane University Law School and her bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Indiana University. She is active in the Dallas community and nonprofit organizations.
