HPY Supports 13th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

June 11, 2011 (St. Louis, MO) – Members of the St. Louis Office of Hawkins Parnell & Young walked in the 13th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® on June 11, 2011 in Downtown, St. Louis, Missouri. 64,088 people walked and there were 1,000 teams formed to raise money.   

4,905 breast cancer survivors stood before everyone in bright pink under the pink balloon arch. More than $3 million was raised at this event. Charlie, a 100 year old tortoise, even though slow, walked the 1 mile fun walk symbolizing the slow struggle of breast cancer awareness and a cure. The St. Louis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has announced it will give more than $3.1 million to fund 28 innovative breast cancer screening, treatment, education and support programs in its 17-county service area. Additionally, more than $1 million raised locally will go to the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grants Program to fund research only.
