Hawkins Parnell & Young to Boost Diversity Through Mansfield Rule Certification Process

March 17, 2022 – Press Release

March 17, 2022 (Atlanta, GA) – Hawkins Parnell & Young is demonstrating its longstanding commitment to diversity as a firm by participating in the 2022-2023 mid-sized firm cohort of the Mansfield Rule certification process. To be eligible for certification, Hawkins Parnell must consider at least 30% of historically underrepresented lawyers for 60% or more of its qualifying leadership roles and activities.

"We are grateful to have such diverse talents in our firm and want to take actionable steps to ensuring we provide a positive and inclusive environment in which each attorney feels represented through our efforts in diversity, equality, and inclusion," said managing partner Christine Mast. "We believe The Mansfield Certification is the next level to presenting opportunities for those that are historically underrepresented in the legal industry."

The purpose of the Mansfield Rule is to diversify law firm leadership by ensuring that historically underrepresented lawyers including women, racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities are being considered for significant governance roles, lateral openings, and promotions within the law firm. The Mansfield Rule certification is administered by Diversity Lab and is currently one of the premier law firm organizations that implement strategies to promote diversity, equality and inclusion in law firm hiring and promotion practices.
