David Marshall Appointed Chair of GDLA’s Judicial Relations Committee

June 1, 2014 – Press Release

June 1, 2014 (Atlanta, GA)  David Marshall was appointed chair of the Judicial Relations Committee of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association (GDLA). Serving as vice-chair is Edward McAfee with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith.

The GDLA’s Judicial Relations Committee works with the state’s Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) to vet judicial candidates. The first JNC was established by executive order in 1972 by then-Governor Jimmy Carter, and subsequent governors have followed Carter’s example. The JNC’s purpose under the current Governor Nathan Deal is to recommend candidates to fill vacancies on the Supreme Court, court of appeals, superior court and state court.

GDLA members are strongly encouraged to participate in the important process of vetting judges by contacting David with your perspectives on the judicial candidates, whether positive or negative.
