Biography
Kelly Chan is a litigator who advises and represents corporate clients in real estate, personal injuries, product liability, complex litigation, and employment matters. She is engaged in all aspects of pre-trial litigation from case management and written discovery to taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and trial workup.
Before joining Hawkins Parnell & Young as a senior associate in Los Angeles, Kelly represented corporate clients and public entities throughout California in general liability, habitability, labor, employment, intellectual property, and business-related matters.
Over her career, Kelly has a track record of successfully arguing demurrer and motion to strike hearings and dismissing the plaintiff's causes of action for habitability and personal injury matters. She has helped clients negotiate favorable and cost-effective resolutions in complex, high-stakes litigation.
Kelly was born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, Canada. She speaks both fluent Mandarin and Cantonese. As the first generation in her family to receive post-graduate education, Kelly understands the importance of accessibility to education and the legal system. She has been an active member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association. She also volunteers at their legal clinics to provide participants with resources for better access to the legal system.
Outside of practicing law, Kelly spent her free time researching new recipes for different cuisines and exploring new restaurants in town.
