Jeffrey W. Deane

Biography

Jeffrey Deane defends clients in both state and federal court against business and commercial claims, as well as multi-party toxic and mass tort litigation, including cases arising out of alleged exposure to asbestos and hazardous substances. Jeff’s clients include Fortune 100 manufacturers and suppliers of construction, mining and earth-moving machinery, consumer products, and automotive products, in addition to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. He also has experience defending companies, employers, and nonprofit organizations in disputes that involve sophisticated wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, aviation, pharmaceutical, medical device, attorney malpractice, professional liability, breach of fiduciary duty, and defamation matters. Jeff’s tenure in the legal industry also includes experience handling warranty, employment, and premises liability litigation for a market leader in the consumer, marine, fitness, bowling, and billiards industries.

With an emphasis on client service, building trust, and attention to detail, Jeff is able to produce cost-efficient results through trust while maintaining regular communication, and strategic counsel. He has a history of building teams that work well together, while teaching and nurturing colleagues. He works closely with clients, corporate counsel, witnesses, and National Coordinating Counsel, regarding case evaluation, discovery, experts, settlement, and trial. Drawing on his vast litigation, negotiation, and trial experience, Jeff has enjoyed tremendous success in asbestos cases, obtaining outright dismissals and summary judgment, and leveraging settlements that resulted in substantial cost savings.

Jeff is originally from Long Beach, California and resides with his wife Deborah and dog Barney. When not helping clients, Jeff spends time enjoying outdoor activities including softball, tennis, sailing, surfing, hiking, traveling, and looking for the next great diner, drive-in, or dive. He is a proud UCLA football season-ticket holder and is also involved in the Los Angeles community, where he volunteers at PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) and Los Angeles Family Housing. He has also served as Mock Trial Judge at Campbell Hall, an independent college preparatory school in North Hollywood, California.
