Herbert Wade Goins and Donna B. Goins v. Carrier Corporation, et al.
On April 17, 2014, Hawkins Parnell & Young, LLP received a defense verdict for a client that manufactures fluid sealing devices. The plaintiff, a South Carolina resident, alleged that his lung cancer was caused by exposure to asbestos from HPY’s client’s products onboard the U.S.S. Princeton and at various Georgia Power plants throughout the state.
Ollie Harton of the firm’s Atlanta office tried the case for HPY’s client before the Honorable Kimberly A. Esmond Adams. At closing, Plaintiffs’ counsel sought $6 million in compensatory damages.
The jury returned a defense verdict after six hours of deliberation.
